Radial Replacement Demand Lifts Construction Equipment Tires Toward USD 15.46 Billion by 2035

Global spending in the construction equipment tires market reached USD 9.84 billion in 2025, and Radial Insights expects it to rise to USD 10.29 billion in 2026 and USD 15.46 billion by 2035, a CAGR of 4.62% over 2025-2035.

The construction equipment tires market covers pneumatic and solid tires fitted to wheeled earthmoving, road building, material handling and lifting machines used on building sites, quarries and civil works. That includes wheel loaders, articulated and rigid dump trucks used in quarries, motor graders, backhoe loaders, wheeled excavators, telehandlers, skid steer loaders, mobile cranes and compactors. Ultra-class haul truck tires for surface mines (rim sizes of 49 inches and above in mining duty), agricultural tires, forklift tires used inside warehouses, rubber tracks and retread services are excluded and covered in separate Radial Insights studies.

Demand follows two clocks. OEM fitment tracks machine output, which rose sharply in China in 2025 while staying flat in North America and Europe. Replacement demand tracks operating hours, and with the global fleet of wheeled machines still growing and working longer shifts, replacement already accounts for most tire spending. Radial Insights estimates replacement tires expand at 4.98% a year through 2035, ahead of OEM demand at 3.85%.

Radial construction is the fastest growing product segment at a 5.40% CAGR, as contractors move loaders and dump trucks away from bias tires to cut heat build up, fuel use and downtime. Among machine types, telehandlers and skid steer loaders grow fastest at 5.35%. Africa is the fastest growing region at 5.85% a year. Asia Pacific (APAC) remains the largest region, with a 41.30% share of 2025 revenue.

Supply is consolidating. Yokohama Rubber closed its USD 905 million purchase of Goodyear's off-the-road tire business in February 2025, CEAT completed its roughly USD 225 million takeover of the Camso off-highway business in September 2025, and Balkrishna Industries (BKT) is adding off-highway capacity toward 425,000 tonnes a year. These moves give the construction equipment tires market fewer, larger suppliers with deeper size ranges and stronger dealer networks.

Wheel Loaders Lead Tire Demand While Telehandlers and Skid Steers Grow Fastest

Wheel loaders are the largest tire consumer in construction because they work on abrasive quarry faces and stockpiles, run long shifts and use large 23.5R25 to 29.5R25 sizes. Their tire demand grows at 4.55% a year. Articulated and rigid dump trucks used in quarries grow at 5.10% as aggregates producers lift haul volumes. Telehandlers and skid steer loaders show the fastest rate at 5.35%, reflecting strong rental fleet growth and short tire lives on concrete and demolition sites. Motor graders, at 3.85%, and cranes and compactors, at 3.95%, grow more slowly because their duty cycles wear tires at a lower rate and machine fleets are expanding less quickly.

Radial Conversion Separates the Two Construction Types

Radial tires grow at 5.40% a year, against 3.10% for bias tires. Radial casings run cooler, carry more load per unit of TKPH (tonne kilometres per hour) and can be retreaded more often, which is why new products such as Michelin's XHA3 and Bridgestone's Firestone Multi Block T are all radial. Bias tires keep a role on backhoe loaders, compactors and price sensitive markets in South Asia and Africa, where cut resistance and low purchase price still matter more than fuel savings.

Smaller Rim Sizes Expand Quicker on Compact Machines

Tires below 25 inches grow at 4.85% because they serve compact loaders, telehandlers and backhoes, the machine classes with the fastest unit growth in rental fleets. The 25 inch class, the core size for wheel loaders and articulated dump trucks, grows at 4.70%. Tires above 25 inches, used on large quarry loaders and rigid dump trucks, rise at 4.25% as these machines are replaced less often.

Deep Tread Patterns Gain From Harsher Quarry Duty

Deep tread L4 and L5 tires grow at 4.95% because quarries and demolition contractors are buying them to resist cuts on blasted rock. Rock pattern L3 and E3 tires follow at 4.75%, while general traction patterns grow at 4.40% as the default choice for earthmoving on soft ground and road building.

Replacement Tires Outgrow OEM Fitment

Replacement demand grows at 4.98% a year against 3.85% for OEM fitment. Each machine typically uses several sets of tires over its life, and fleets in North America and Europe are keeping machines longer while new equipment sales stay flat. OEM growth depends more on Chinese and Indian machine output, which is volatile from year to year.

Market Trends

Tire Makers Launched a Wave of Higher Load Radials in 2026

CONEXPO-CON/AGG 2026 in Las Vegas became a launch platform for construction radials. In February 2026, Bridgestone said it would release three new tires there, including the Firestone Multi Block T for articulated dump trucks and wheel loaders in five sizes from 17.5R25 to 29.5R25, replacing the Versabuilt AP. In March 2026, Michelin unveiled the XHA3 for loaders and graders, which it described as its biggest advance in this category in over ten years and which replaces four earlier lines. Both launches target higher TKPH ratings and longer life, the two measures contractors use when they compare tire costs per hour.

Consolidation Is Reshaping the Supplier Base

Ownership changes are moving construction tire capacity to fewer groups. Yokohama Rubber completed its USD 905 million all cash purchase of Goodyear's off-the-road business on 3 February 2025, a unit that had USD 678 million of sales in 2023. In September 2025, CEAT finalised its purchase of Michelin's Camso off-highway tires and tracks business for about USD 225 million, gaining two plants in Sri Lanka and a strong position in compact construction tires. Radial Insights expects the top five suppliers to hold a larger share of the construction equipment tires market by 2030 as a result.

Chinese Machine Output and Exports Are Lifting OEM Volumes

China's construction equipment cycle turned up in 2025. The China Construction Machinery Association reported sales of 235,257 excavators, up 17%, and 128,067 loaders, up 18.4%, with exports making up about half of excavator volume. Each loader leaving a Chinese plant carries four tires, which supports demand at Chinese suppliers such as Triangle Tyre, which presented its OTR range at SaMoTer in Verona in May 2026, and at Linglong and Guizhou Tyre.

Indian Suppliers Are Scaling Capacity for Export Markets

Indian tire makers are betting on off-highway growth. In May 2026, BKT guided capital spending of INR 1,500 to 1,800 crore for fiscal 2027 and said ongoing projects would lift off-highway capacity to 425,000 tonnes a year, with a target of 8% global share in that category. Indian exports of tires to the United States reached INR 4,300 crore in fiscal 2025, and agricultural and off-road tires once made up 75% of those shipments, showing how important construction and farm tires are to India's export base.

Restraints and Challenges

Flat Machine Sales in North America and Europe

Western equipment markets have been weak. CECE reported that European construction equipment sales fell 10% in 2023 and 19% in 2024, and were down another 1.1% in the first half of 2025. In the United States, more than 151,000 new financed construction machines were sold in 2025, 2.2% fewer than in 2024, with wheel loader units down 8.7%. Titan International's earthmoving and construction segment posted 2025 sales of USD 581.7 million, down 0.3%, as stated in its fourth quarter 2025 earnings release. Slow OEM demand in these regions limits growth for original fitment tires.

Trade Barriers Raise Landed Costs

Tariffs have become a cost risk for importers. The United States raised duties on most Indian tire categories to 50% on 27 August 2025, a heavy burden for Indian off-highway exporters that ship large volumes to US dealers. In February 2026, India said an 18% US tariff rate would apply after a joint statement on an interim trade framework, but frequent changes make it hard for distributors to set prices and hold stock.

Raw Material and Energy Price Swings

Construction tires use large amounts of natural rubber, carbon black and steel cord, so swings in these inputs move margins quickly. A large 29.5R25 tire can weigh several hundred kilograms, which means raw material cost dominates the price. Suppliers often pass on increases with a lag of one to two quarters, squeezing margins when prices rise quickly.

Long Tire Lives and Retreading Reduce New Unit Demand

Better casings and wider use of retreading lower the number of new tires each machine needs. Radial loader tires can run several thousand hours, and many quarry fleets retread casings once or twice. This trend raises value per tire but slows growth in units, which keeps the overall market CAGR below the growth rate of machine operating hours.

Growth Drivers

Infrastructure Spending and Aggregates Demand

Public works programs keep earthmoving and quarry machines busy. China's loader sales grew 22.1% in its domestic market in 2025, and Oxford Economics expects civil engineering in Europe to keep growing into 2026, with Spain, Hungary and Ukraine leading. In the United States, highway and bridge work funded by multi year federal programs keeps aggregates output high, which drives wear on wheel loader and dump truck tires. Quarries run machines for two shifts or more, and loader tires in abrasive rock often need replacement within 12 to 24 months. Radial Insights estimates that infrastructure and aggregates demand adds about +1.3% of annual growth to the construction equipment tires market over 2025-2035, with the largest effect in Asia Pacific (APAC) and the Middle East, where megaprojects in Saudi Arabia and the UAE require large wheeled fleets.

Conversion From Bias to Radial Tires

Radial tires cost more at purchase but cut cost per hour through longer life, lower rolling resistance and better heat control. Michelin's XHA3 and Bridgestone's Firestone Multi Block T, both launched for 2026, were designed around higher TKPH ratings so contractors can run faster cycles without heat separation. In India, Africa and Southeast Asia, many loaders and backhoes still run on bias tires, giving suppliers a large conversion pool. Each conversion lifts tire value per machine by an estimated 30% to 50%. Radial Insights expects this shift to contribute roughly 0.9 percentage points to the market CAGR, which explains why the radial segment grows at 5.40% while bias grows at 3.10%.

Rental Fleet Growth and Compact Machines

Rental companies have become the largest buyers of compact construction machines in North America and Europe. In the United States, compact track loaders made up 36.3% of new financed machine units in 2025, at 54,982 units, while compact utility loaders rose 1.9% to 10,935 units. Wheeled skid steers and telehandlers in rental fleets often run on concrete and demolition debris, where tire life is short and replacement cycles are fast. Rental firms also replace tires on a fixed schedule to protect resale values. CEAT's purchase of Camso was aimed directly at this compact construction space. This driver adds an estimated 0.7 points of growth per year, centered on tires below 25 inches.

Opportunities

Tire Monitoring and Service Contracts

Suppliers are bundling sensors and service with tires. Pressure and temperature data help quarry managers avoid heat failures, and fleet contracts that charge per hour of use give suppliers stable revenue. The opportunity is largest at big quarries and contractors with 50 or more wheeled machines, where a single tire failure can idle a loader for a full shift.

Africa and the Middle East as Growth Markets

Africa grows at 5.85% a year and the Middle East at 5.55%, both ahead of the global rate. Road, rail and port projects in East and West Africa, and giga projects in the Gulf, need large wheeled fleets but have limited local tire supply. Suppliers that set up regional warehouses and service teams can win share from importers that sell on price alone.

Asia Pacific Leads Construction Equipment Tire Revenue While Africa Grows Fastest

Asia Pacific (APAC)

Asia Pacific (APAC) held a 41.30% share of the construction equipment tires market in 2025, worth about USD 4.06 billion. Radial Insights expects APAC revenue to reach USD 6.84 billion by 2035, growing at a 5.35% CAGR. China drives the region, with 235,257 excavators and 128,067 loaders sold in 2025, while India adds capacity through BKT, CEAT, Apollo Tyres and MRF. Indonesia and Australia add quarry and infrastructure demand.

North America

North America accounted for 22.60% of global revenue in 2025, or USD 2.22 billion. North American sales are projected to reach USD 3.24 billion by 2035 at a 3.85% CAGR. US buyers financed more than 151,000 new construction machines in 2025, and replacement tires make up the bulk of regional spending because rental fleets in the United States and Canada are large and heavily used.

Europe

Europe represented 20.40% of the market in 2025, worth USD 2.01 billion. European revenue is set to reach USD 2.79 billion by 2035, a 3.35% CAGR. CECE data show European equipment sales fell 19% in 2024 and 1.1% in the first half of 2025, though road machinery rose 10%. Germany, France and the UK fell from 55% to 46% of European machine sales, as Spain and Eastern Europe gained.

Latin America

Latin America held 6.20% of global revenue in 2025, or USD 0.61 billion. The Latin American market is projected to reach USD 0.97 billion by 2035, growing at 4.75% a year. Brazil and Mexico lead demand through road concessions, housing and aggregates, while Chile and Peru add quarry work linked to copper projects.

Middle East

The Middle East accounted for 5.60% of the market in 2025, worth USD 0.55 billion. Middle East revenue is forecast to reach USD 0.95 billion by 2035, a 5.55% CAGR. Saudi Arabia's giga projects and UAE transport works keep large fleets of loaders, graders and dump trucks running in hot conditions, which shortens tire life and favors high TKPH radials.

Africa

Africa held 3.90% of global revenue in 2025, or USD 0.38 billion. African demand is projected to reach USD 0.68 billion by 2035, the fastest rate of any region at 5.85% a year. Road and rail corridors in Kenya, Tanzania, Nigeria and Guinea, along with quarry growth around fast growing cities, raise demand for both bias and radial construction tires.

Global Majors and Fast Growing Indian and Chinese Suppliers Share the Construction Tire Market

The construction equipment tires market is moderately concentrated. Radial Insights estimates that the five largest suppliers hold just over half of global revenue, with the rest split among Indian, Chinese and regional brands. Competition centers on TKPH ratings, cut resistance, size coverage from 17.5 to 35 inch rims, dealer service and price.

Premium Global Suppliers

Bridgestone, through its Bridgestone and Firestone brands, is a leader in radial loader and dump truck tires and backs its products with fleet services; its 2026 range adds the Firestone Multi Block T. Michelin, known for its X series earthmover radials, launched the XHA3 in 2026 and focuses on longer tire life and lower cost per hour. Continental offers its EM and RDT lines for loaders, dumpers and port machines, with strong European coverage. These firms charge higher prices but win at large quarries and contractors that measure total cost of ownership.

Consolidating Japanese and US Players

Yokohama Rubber has become a larger force after buying Goodyear's off-the-road business in February 2025, adding to its Alliance, Galaxy and Primex brands through Yokohama Off-Highway Tires. Titan International, the US maker of Titan brand earthmoving tires and wheels, posted 2025 earthmoving and construction sales of USD 581.7 million and sells tire and wheel assemblies to OEMs.

Indian Off-Highway Specialists

Balkrishna Industries (BKT) is the most export focused Indian supplier, known for value priced radial and bias construction tires sold in more than 160 countries, and is adding capacity toward 425,000 tonnes a year.
