Fully digital clusters are replacing needles and dials across every vehicle class

Worth USD 10.85 Billion in 2025, the automotive instrument clusters market should total USD 11.44 Billion in 2026 and USD 18.36 Billion by 2035, compounding at 5.40% a year. Unit volumes track vehicle output, so most of the value gain comes from larger screens and more software inside each cluster.

Radial Insights defines the market as the driver information unit behind the steering wheel: analog gauges, hybrid clusters that pair dials with a small screen, and fully digital clusters built around a TFT-LCD, OLED or Mini LED panel, together with the cluster electronics and housing. Where the cluster is part of a wider pillar-to-pillar display, we count only the share of value used for driver information. Center infotainment screens, head-up displays and cockpit domain controllers sold as separate units are excluded.

The automotive instrument clusters market grows faster than vehicle production. OICA counted 96.4 million vehicles built worldwide in 2025, up 3.9%, while the value of each cluster keeps rising as automakers move from 4.2-inch or 7-inch screens to 10.25-inch and 12.3-inch digital units. Visteon alone booked USD 1.4 Billion of new cluster business in 2025.

The fastest-growing segment is the Fully Digital cluster at a 9.80% CAGR. The fastest-growing region is Africa at a 6.30% CAGR from a small base, while Asia Pacific (APAC) remains the largest region with a 52.30% share and grows at 5.97%.

Margins are under pressure. Chinese suppliers such as Desay SV quote aggressively, panel prices fall each year, and some automakers now merge the cluster into one large cockpit screen. Suppliers that sell the cluster together with domain controllers and software, as Visteon and Bosch do, are best placed to keep value per vehicle.

Market Dynamics

Market Trends

Pillar-to-pillar displays redefine the cluster

BMW unveiled its Panoramic iDrive at CES in January 2025 and launched it on the new iX3 at the Munich motor show in September 2025. Key driving data moves to a strip across the base of the windshield, with the conventional screen behind the wheel removed. Desay SV has developed a similar A-pillar to A-pillar curved Mini LED display. The cluster is becoming one zone of a larger screen rather than a separate box.

Domain controllers absorb cluster electronics

Bosch said in April 2026 that cumulative deliveries of its Qualcomm-based smart cockpit solution passed 10 million units, up from 1 million in 2023, with more than 100 production and development projects as of October 2025. Visteon reports USD 2.1 Billion of SmartCore and infotainment wins in 2025. When one controller drives both the cluster and the center display, the cluster itself becomes a display module, which shifts value toward software and chips.

Chinese suppliers win at home and abroad

Desay SV reported 2025 revenue of CNY 32.56 Billion, up 17.88%, with cockpit products contributing CNY 20.59 Billion. It said new cockpit projects added more than CNY 20 Billion of annualized sales. Bosch reports helping more than 20 models from five leading Chinese brands enter overseas markets, and these export models carry Chinese-designed digital clusters into Europe, Latin America and the Middle East.

Digital clusters spread to entry cars and motorcycles

Visteon launched digital clusters on the Toyota Corolla in China and the Tata Sierra in India in 2025, part of 86 product launches across 19 automakers that year. In two-wheelers, Nippon Seiki exhibited a circular TFT dual gauge cluster prototype at the Automotive Engineering Exposition in Yokohama in May 2026, combining analog styling with TFT flexibility.

Restraints and Challenges

Integration into single cockpit screens

Some automakers now drop the dedicated cluster altogether and show speed on a center screen or a head-up display. Each such program removes a separate cluster unit, and where we count only the driver information share of a large display, the value per car can fall even as the screen area grows.

Price pressure from panel deflation and Chinese competition

Desay SV reported a cockpit gross margin of 18.83% in 2025, down 0.28 percentage points. Falling TFT-LCD prices and aggressive Chinese bids push cluster prices down, which forces global suppliers to cut cost each model year.

Flat vehicle output in mature regions

OICA data show European vehicle production fell 0.8% to 17.2 million units in 2025 and output in the Americas fell 2.1% (OICA 2025 production statistics). Johnson Electric and other suppliers describe excess OEM capacity in Europe, which delays new cluster programs.

Software, cybersecurity and semiconductor risk

Digital clusters run complex software that must meet functional safety and cybersecurity rules, and they depend on display drivers and microcontrollers from a few chipmakers. Visteon guided 2026 sales to USD 3.625 Billion to USD 3.825 Billion, below its 2025 level of USD 3.77 Billion at the midpoint (Visteon investor release), reflecting cautious automaker schedules.

Growth Drivers

Electric vehicles launch with fully digital clusters

The IEA reported more than 20 million electric car sales in 2025, about one in four new cars, and expects about 23 million in 2026. China built 16.63 million new energy vehicles in 2025, up 29%, per OICA. EVs need to show range, charging state and energy flow, data that analog dials cannot handle, so nearly every new EV ships with a fully digital cluster or a wide integrated screen. Desay SV, which supplies Chery and Geely among others, grew its cockpit revenue to CNY 20.59 Billion in 2025 on the back of these programs. Battery Electric vehicles grow at 9.20% a year in our segmentation. We estimate electrification lifts the market's annual growth by about 1.4 percentage points over the forecast.

Screen upgrades in mass-market cars

The move from analog or hybrid clusters to 7-inch and 10.25-inch digital units raises cluster value by several times per vehicle. Visteon booked USD 1.4 Billion of new cluster awards in 2025 and launched digital clusters on high-volume models such as the Toyota Corolla in China and the Tata Sierra in India. Asia produced about 59.2 million vehicles in 2025, more than 61% of global output, and much of that volume is still moving from analog to digital. Indian buyers in particular now expect a digital cluster in compact SUVs. Radial Insights credits this upgrade cycle with close to 1.8 points of annual growth, the single largest contribution in our model, because it touches cars at every price point.

ADAS and connected features need richer driver displays

Lane keeping, adaptive cruise control and turn-by-turn navigation all need clear graphics in the driver's line of sight. Digital clusters show 3D lane views, camera feeds and navigation maps that hybrid clusters cannot. Bosch's smart cockpit platform, delivered in more than 10 million units by April 2026, links the cluster to ADAS and infotainment functions, and its second-generation solution combines cockpit and driving functions in one controller. Visteon's record USD 7.4 Billion of 2025 wins included USD 3.6 Billion in displays tied to these feature sets. We put the contribution of ADAS and connectivity at roughly 0.9 points of yearly growth, mainly through higher-value large-format clusters.

Opportunities

Two-wheeler TFT clusters

Two-Wheelers grow at 6.90% in our model. A large share of motorcycles and scooters sold in India, Indonesia and Vietnam still use analog clusters. Connected TFT clusters with phone pairing, such as the round dual gauge unit Nippon Seiki showed in May 2026, open a large volume market for suppliers such as Pricol.

Commercial vehicle digitalization

Heavy Commercial Vehicles grow at 4.40% from a largely hybrid base. Fleets want clusters that show tire pressure, driver coaching and telematics alerts. Suppliers such as Stoneridge that specialize in rugged commercial vehicle electronics can add software revenue on top of hardware.

Asia Pacific earns more than half of cluster revenue as Africa posts the fastest growth

Asia Pacific (APAC)

Asia Pacific (APAC) held a 52.30% share in 2025, about USD 5.67 Billion, and should reach USD 10.13 Billion by 2035 at a 5.97% CAGR. Asia Pacific vehicle production rose 7.6% to about 59.2 million units in 2025, per OICA. China contributed 34.53 million vehicles, and suppliers such as Desay SV, Visteon and Bosch run large cockpit operations there. India adds rapid digital cluster adoption in compact SUVs and two-wheelers.

North America

North America accounted for 17.60% of 2025 revenue, about USD 1.91 Billion, rising to USD 3.02 Billion by 2035 at a 4.70% CAGR. The United States built 10.24 million vehicles and sold 16.7 million in 2025, per OICA. Pickups such as the Ford F-150, which uses a Visteon hybrid cluster, are steadily moving to fully digital 12-inch units.

Europe

Europe represented a 21.40% share, about USD 2.32 Billion in 2025, and should reach USD 3.54 Billion by 2035 at a 4.30% CAGR. European production fell 0.8% to 17.2 million units in 2025. Premium brands lead screen adoption, with BMW rolling out Panoramic iDrive from the iX3 onward, and Aumovio, listed in Frankfurt in September 2025, is a major regional display supplier.

Latin America

Latin America held 4.70% of the market in 2025, about USD 509.95 Million, growing to USD 879.36 Million by 2035 at a 5.60% CAGR. Brazil produced 2.64 million vehicles in 2025, per OICA. Digital clusters are spreading in Brazilian and Mexican compact cars, and Chinese imports arrive with screen-based clusters as standard.

Middle East

The Middle East took a 2.40% share in 2025, about USD 260.40 Million, and should reach USD 461.96 Million by 2035 at a 5.90% CAGR. Demand comes mainly from imported SUVs, and Chinese export models fitted with digital clusters are gaining ground in Gulf markets.

Africa

Africa accounted for 1.60% of 2025 revenue, about USD 173.60 Million, rising to USD 319.80 Million by 2035 at a 6.30% CAGR, the fastest of any region. OICA reported African vehicle sales up 22% to 1.29 million units in 2025. Assembly in Morocco and South Africa for export lifts the use of digital clusters on local production lines.
