EV Sealing and Medical Parts Push LSR Machine Demand Toward USD 1.34 Billion by 2035

Radial Insights sizes the global liquid silicone rubber injection molding machines market at USD 742.60 Million in 2025, rising to USD 787.90 Million in 2026 and USD 1,342.48 Million by 2035 at a 6.10% CAGR.

Our scope covers new injection molding machines configured for two-component addition-cure LSR, the dosing and metering units that feed them, and the cold-deck, automation and demolding peripherals sold as part of an LSR cell. We count hydraulic, all-electric, hybrid and vertical machines across all clamping classes. Used machines, standalone molds sold without a machine, compression presses for high-consistency rubber, and the silicone raw material itself sit outside the estimate.

Demand is shaped by three buyer groups. Automotive tier suppliers mold connector seals, single-wire seals, high-voltage charging plug seals and lighting optics; medical molders make valves, catheter components and respiratory parts in cleanrooms; and consumer brands buy baby-care, wearable and kitchen parts. In 2025, Sumitomo (SHI) Demag ran a 256-cavity single-wire seal tool in under 12 seconds at K 2025, which shows how far cavitation has moved.

Medical and healthcare is the fastest application, growing at 7.60% a year to 2035, because hospital buyers keep shifting from thermoplastic elastomers to LSR for biocompatibility and sterilization tolerance. All-electric machines are the fastest machine type at 7.40%.

Asia Pacific (APAC) leads with a 44.20% share and the fastest regional CAGR of 6.85%, helped by Chinese and Indian molders adding LSR lines. Haitian International reported 2025 revenue of RMB 17.73 billion, up 10%, a useful signal that machine buying in the region stayed firm while German output fell 5.6% in the same year.

All-electric machines win on shot consistency, growing at 7.40%

LSR has very low viscosity, so it flashes easily and punishes any drift in injection speed or hold pressure. All-electric drives hold those parameters more tightly than hydraulics, use less energy and suit cleanrooms. ARBURG chose an ALLROUNDER 470 E GOLDEN ELECTRIC EVO to mold 0.06 gram burr-free connector seals at Chinaplas 2025, and Sumitomo (SHI) Demag based its K 2025 LSR exhibits on the all-electric IntElect 130. Hydraulic machines still serve large parts and price-sensitive buyers, but their growth of 4.10% a year trails the rest of the market. Hybrids, at 6.30%, appeal to molders who need hydraulic clamping force with electric injection. Vertical machines grow at 5.60% on insert and overmolding work such as seals molded onto housings.

Machines up to 100 tons lead growth at 6.80%

Most LSR parts weigh well under a few grams. Seals, membranes, valves and nipples fit on machines up to 100 tons, where cavitation from 16 to 256 cavities raises output without a bigger frame. The 101-300 ton class, at 6.00%, covers multi-shot parts and larger automotive gaskets. Machines above 300 tons, at 4.90%, address big parts such as the 484 by 202 mm inverter seal that ENGEL planned to mold on a victory 1565/220 at Fakuma 2026.

Automation and dosing outpace bare machines

Automation and peripherals grow at 7.10% and dosing and metering at 6.90%, ahead of 5.70% for machines alone. Molders now buy complete cells: dosing pumps, cold-deck runners, demolding robots and vision inspection. Elmet's TOP 5100 dosing system, launched in March 2025, handles viscosities from 0.001 to 3,000 Pa.s at up to 230 bar, and suppliers such as Nexus, Kracht and 2KM compete on accuracy and drum-change speed.

Medical grows fastest, automotive remains the volume anchor

Medical and healthcare grows at 7.60% a year on respiratory, infusion and wearable device parts that require ISO cleanroom molding. Automotive, at 6.60%, benefits from electric vehicle high-voltage connector and charging plug seals. Electrical and electronics grows at 6.20% on keypads and protective seals, consumer goods and baby care at 5.20% as that segment matures, and industrial uses at 4.70%.

Market Dynamics

Market Trends

Cavitation records keep climbing

At K 2025 in October 2025, Sumitomo (SHI) Demag showed three LSR cells on an IntElect 130, including a 32-cavity Nexus mold for high-voltage charging plug seals, a 16-cavity medical valve tool and a 256-cavity RICO tool for single-wire seals running under 12 seconds. Buyers in Asia Pacific (APAC) and Europe now specify cavitation first and machine size second, which lifts spending on molds, dosing and inspection per cell.

Flash-free molding of large automotive seals

Plastics Today reported in September 2026 that ENGEL would mold a flash-free 484 by 202 by 29 mm LSR inverter seal at Fakuma 2026, using a tie-bar-less victory 1565/220, Shin-Etsu KEG 2003H-50 A/B material and a cycle of about 70 seconds. Inverter, battery and power electronics seals in electric vehicles are larger than classic connector seals, so they open demand for mid and large tonnage LSR machines that was thin five years ago.

Dosing gets smarter and fully electric

Elmet introduced the TOP 5100 dosing system at Silicone Expo Europe in Amsterdam in March 2025, and Wittmann planned an EcoPower 110/350 cell with an Elmet two-cavity mold and TOP 5100 pump for K 2025, announced in August 2025. In December 2025, BOY said it would show a BOY 50 E with fully electric LSR metering at Plastindia 2026 in New Delhi. Electric dosing removes pneumatic drift and logs every shot, which medical buyers need for traceability.

Entry-level and lower-carbon options widen the buyer base

APSX launched a benchtop LSR injection machine in July 2025 at an early-bird price below USD 15,000, aimed at prototyping labs and universities. On the material side, Wacker launched ELASTOSIL eco LR 5003, a biomethanol-based LSR that needs no post-curing, at K 2025 in October 2025. Removing post-curing shortens the process chain and favors in-line, fully automated cells.

Restraints and Challenges

Weak European machinery demand

VDMA reported that German plastics and rubber machinery production fell 5.6% to EUR 11.4 billion in 2025, with exports down 8.1% to EUR 5.46 billion and first-quarter 2026 orders down 5%. ENGEL said in its May 2025 results release that sales fell nearly 10% to about EUR 1.5 billion in fiscal 2024/25 as automotive customers held back. When car programs slip, LSR cell orders slip with them.

High cell cost and long payback

A production LSR cell combines an electric machine, a dosing unit, a cold-runner mold that can cost more than the machine, and automation. For contract molders with a single seal program, payback can stretch past four years, so many lease or delay purchases. This weighs most on Latin America and Africa, where financing costs are higher.

Silicone supply chain and price swings

Wacker's 2025 annual report shows group sales of EUR 5,485.3 million, down 4.1%, and EBITDA down 42.6%, reflecting weak silicone pricing tied to Chinese siloxane overcapacity. Material price swings change molders' cost math between LSR and thermoplastic elastomers, and a squeezed material supplier base can slow application development support.

Regulatory scrutiny of fluorinated grades

The European Chemicals Agency's ongoing PFAS restriction process covers fluorinated materials, which brings uncertainty for fluorosilicone LSR used in fuel and oil-resistant seals. Molders serving those parts are cautious about adding dedicated capacity until derogations are clear.

Growth Drivers

Electric vehicle sealing content per car

A battery electric vehicle carries high-voltage connector seals, charging inlet seals, battery pack gaskets, inverter seals and thermal management membranes that do not exist on a combustion car, and LSR is the default material for many of them because it tolerates heat from minus 50 to above 200 degrees Celsius. OICA counted 96.4 million vehicles produced worldwide in 2025, up 3.9%, and the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers reported more than 16 million new energy vehicles sold in China alone. Tier suppliers such as connector makers now order 32-cavity and higher LSR tools for charging plug seals, as shown at K 2025. We estimate this driver adds about +1.4% of annual growth to the liquid silicone rubber injection molding machines market, concentrated in Asia Pacific (APAC) and Europe.

Medical device migration to LSR

Medical buyers prefer LSR for its biocompatibility, transparency, and tolerance of steam, ethylene oxide and gamma sterilization. Respiratory masks, infusion valves, catheter components and wearable drug delivery patches all use it, and each program requires validated, documented processes. Sumitomo (SHI) Demag's 16-cavity medical valve exhibit at K 2025 and BOY's fully electric metering for Plastindia 2026 reflect machine makers designing directly for this buyer. Medical molders also replace equipment on a regular validation cycle rather than only when capacity runs out, which smooths demand. With medical and healthcare growing at 7.60% a year, we attribute roughly one point, close to +1.0% of CAGR, to cleanroom LSR capacity additions by contract manufacturers in the United States, Ireland, Costa Rica, China and India.

Asian machine makers scale overseas

Haitian International reported 2025 revenue of RMB 17.73 billion, up 10%, with overseas sales up 26.4% to RMB 7.60 billion, close to 43% of the total. Chinese and other Asian builders offer LSR-ready electric machines at lower prices than European peers, which brings first-time LSR buyers in India, Southeast Asia, Mexico, Turkey and Brazil into the market. At the same time, China was the top destination for German plastics and rubber machinery in 2025, at EUR 1.24 billion, up 11.7%, according to VDMA, which shows that high-end LSR cells still flow into Asian plants. Lower entry prices and local service widen the installed base, which we estimate contributes around +0.8% to yearly market growth through 2035.

Opportunities

Turnkey cells for mid-size molders

Many molders lack in-house LSR expertise. Suppliers that bundle machine, dosing, mold, automation and process training, as ENGEL, ARBURG and Wittmann do with partners such as Elmet, RICO and 2KM, can win buyers moving from thermoplastics into silicone.

Data and traceability services

Medical and automotive buyers need shot-by-shot records of dosing ratio, temperature and pressure. Connected dosing units and machine software that feed manufacturing execution systems create recurring software and service revenue on top of each machine sale.

Asia Pacific Holds 44.20% of LSR Machine Spending and Grows Fastest

European Electric Machine Builders Lead, Asian Suppliers Gain on Price and Reach

The liquid silicone rubber injection molding machines market is moderately concentrated. A handful of European and Japanese machine builders supply most high-cavitation LSR cells, while specialist dosing firms and mold makers form the second layer. Machine makers rarely win alone: most LSR projects are sold as partnerships between a machine builder, a dosing supplier, a mold maker and a silicone producer.

Premium machine builders

ENGEL, based in Austria, is known for tie-bar-less victory machines that give easy mold access for large flash-free LSR parts, and reported sales of about EUR 1.5 billion in fiscal 2024/25. ARBURG, the family-owned German builder, markets its ALLROUNDER electric machines for micro LSR parts such as 0.06 gram connector seals. Sumitomo (SHI) Demag focuses on the all-electric IntElect line with high-cavitation medical and automotive cells. Wittmann Battenfeld pairs EcoPower machines with in-house robots and partner dosing. KraussMaffei offers LSR packages on its electric and hydraulic ranges.

Volume and value builders

Haitian International, the world's largest injection molding machine maker by units, sells LSR-capable electric machines at prices well below European peers and is growing fast overseas. Nissei Plastic Industrial of Japan offers LSR versions of its electric machines and has shown LSR cells at US trade shows. Dr. Boy GmbH serves the small-tonnage end, with strong positions in India.

Dosing and metering specialists

Elmet in Austria supplies the TOP series dosing systems and LSR molds. Nexus Elastomer Systems sells X200 dosing and Timeshot cold-deck technology. Kracht offers SilcoStar electric dosing, 2KM partners with ARBURG on dosing, and Graco provides metering pumps for larger drum systems. Dosing accuracy decides scrap rates, so these suppliers have strong influence on buyer choice.

Molds, automation and new entrants

RICO Group builds high-cavitation LSR molds and automation, such as the 256-cavity tool shown at K 2025. APSX, a US entrant, targets labs and prototyping with a benchtop LSR machine. Material suppliers Wacker, Shin-Etsu, Momentive, Dow and Elkem co-develop applications with machine makers, which shapes which machines molders trial first.
