Fleet, Aviation and Mining Demand Lift Nitrogen Tire Inflation Equipment to USD 799.54 Million by 2035

Radial Insights values the Nitrogen Tire Inflation Systems market at USD 486.20 Million in 2025, rising to USD 511.00 Million in 2026 and USD 799.54 Million by 2035, a 5.10% CAGR over 2025-2035. Growth sits above tire unit volumes because each new fill point is a capital purchase, not a consumable.

Our scope covers equipment that produces or delivers nitrogen for tire filling: on-site membrane and pressure swing adsorption (PSA) generators, portable and cart-mounted nitrogen inflators, cylinder and bulk dispensing units, aircraft nitrogen servicing carts and containerized systems built for off-the-road (OTR) mining tires, plus the service kits sold with them. We exclude plain compressed-air inflators, on-vehicle automatic tire inflation systems, tire pressure monitoring systems (TPMS) and the nitrogen gas commodity itself, so the figures measure hardware and kits only.

Three buyer groups explain most of the spend. Tire dealers and service centers install generator-inflators as a retail service line; commercial fleets buy them to hold pressure across hundreds of steer and drive positions; and aviation and mining operators buy them because procedures already call for dry nitrogen. The FAA's AC 20-97B, for example, asks for aircraft tires to be inflated with nitrogen containing no more than 5% oxygen by volume.

Automatic Multi-Tire Fill Stations are the fastest-growing product type at 7.20% a year, with Commercial Fleets close behind at 6.90% among end users. Cylinder and Bulk Supply Units trail at 2.10%, as buyers replace delivered gas with on-site generation.

North America is the largest region at 36.00% of 2025 revenue. Asia Pacific (APAC) grows fastest at 6.60% a year through 2035, helped by mining, aviation ground support and expanding truck fleets. The Nitrogen Tire Inflation Systems market remains fragmented, with compressed-air majors and specialist nitrogen brands competing for the same service bay.

PSA Edges Membrane as Purity Specs Tighten, While Cylinders Fade at 2.10%

Membrane Separation remains the workhorse in tire shops because it runs off an existing compressor and has no moving parts in the separator, which suits passenger and truck tire work. It grows at 5.60%. Pressure Swing Adsorption grows slightly faster at 5.90% because aviation, mining and high-volume fleet depots want higher purity and larger flow. Cylinder and Bulk Supply Units grow only 2.10%, since every on-site generator installed retires a cylinder rental and delivery schedule.

Automatic Multi-Tire Fill Stations Lead Product Growth at 7.20%

Automatic Multi-Tire Fill Stations purge and fill four or more tires to a preset pressure without a technician holding a chuck, which is why they post the top rate of 7.20%. Portable and Cart-Mounted Inflators follow at 5.30%, carried by aviation ramps, mobile truck service and mine sites. Stationary Generator-Inflator Systems grow 4.40%, held back by a mature installed base in North American tire retail.

Commercial Fleets at 6.90% Outrun Dealerships at 3.80%

Commercial Fleets grow fastest among end users at 6.90%, followed by Mining and Construction at 6.10%, because both measure tire cost per mile or per hour. Aviation MRO and Ground Support grows 4.90%, steady and specification-led. Tire Dealers and Service Centers grow 4.30%, Automotive Dealerships 3.80% and Motorsports 3.60%, where most teams already own equipment.

Heavy Trucks and Buses Grow 6.50%, Ahead of Passenger Cars at 4.20%

Heavy Trucks and Buses lead vehicle types at 6.50%, and Off-the-Road Equipment follows at 6.00% as larger tires need more gas per fill and justify bigger generators. Light Commercial Vehicles grow 5.40% with delivery-van fleets, Aircraft 4.80% and Passenger Cars 4.20%, reflecting flat US passenger replacement volumes of 221.6 million units in 2025.

Market Trends

Compressed-Air Majors Are Buying On-Site Gas Generation Capacity

Large compressor groups spent 2025 adding nitrogen generation know-how. In March 2025, Atlas Copco acquired MSS Nitrogen, a UK and US maker of on-site gas generation systems with 44 staff and about GBP 17 million of 2024 revenue; the release framed the deal around laser cutting, not tires. In April 2025, Ingersoll Rand bought Advanced Gas Technologies of Canada together with G&D Chillers for about USD 27 million combined. Neither deal is a tire product launch, but both deepen the generator portfolios that tire-inflation packages are built on, and both firms already sell through industrial distributors that reach fleet depots.

Parker's Filtration Group Deal Widens Its Aftermarket Footprint

Parker Hannifin, owner of the TireSaver nitrogen inflation line, announced a USD 9.25 billion purchase of Filtration Group in November 2025 and completed it in August 2026. Filtration Group brings about USD 2 billion of revenue, 85% of it aftermarket. For the Nitrogen Tire Inflation Systems market, the relevance is service intensity: membrane systems need filter element changes, and a bigger aftermarket channel makes recurring kit revenue easier to capture.

Service Networks Are Consolidating Into Larger Buyers

In July 2026, Mavis agreed to buy Pep Boys for USD 700 million, adding nearly 800 stores for more than 4,400 service centers combined. Larger chains standardize bay equipment, so one procurement decision can now place or replace hundreds of nitrogen generator-inflators. Trade events reflect the same breadth of demand: The Tire Cologne ran 9-11 June 2026 with 350 exhibitors from 32 countries.

Independent Testing Is Reframing the Retail Value Pitch

Consumer Reports updated its nitrogen test in September 2026: over 12 months, air-filled tires lost 3.5 psi from 30 psi while nitrogen-filled tires lost 2.2 psi, and dealers often charge USD 5 or more per tire. The 1.3 psi gap is real but modest, so retail operators are shifting their pitch from "nitrogen as a premium" to nitrogen bundled with pressure checks, which favors automated fill stations that cut labor per vehicle.

Restraints and Challenges

Modest Consumer Benefit Caps Retail Pricing Power

The September 2026 Consumer Reports result, 2.2 psi lost with nitrogen versus 3.5 psi with air over 12 months, gives retail buyers a measurable but small reason to pay. At USD 5 or more per tire, many drivers decline the upsell, which slows payback on a stationary generator in low-traffic stores. We see this as the main reason Automotive Dealerships grow only 3.80%.

US Federal Pressure on Heavy-Duty Efficiency Has Eased

On 12 February 2026, the EPA finalized the rescission of the greenhouse gas Endangerment Finding and vehicle GHG standards, removing heavy-duty Phase 2 and Phase 3 GHG requirements (EPA fact sheet). CAFE and criteria pollutant rules are unchanged. Fleets still chase fuel savings for cost reasons, but the compliance argument that supported tire-pressure programs on new trucks is weaker, trimming an estimated 0.3 points from North American fleet demand.

Flat Passenger Replacement Volumes Limit Retail Upgrades

USTMA forecast US passenger replacement shipments at 221.6 million units in 2025, flat on the prior year (USTMA forecast). In Europe, Tyres Europe reported 2025 consumer replacement sales of 224,133 thousand units, down 2%, with truck and bus down 4% to 11,020 thousand (Tyres Europe Q4 2025 update). Fewer tire changes mean fewer moments to sell a nitrogen fill or justify a new generator.

Monitoring and On-Vehicle Systems Compete for the Same Budget

TPMS and on-vehicle inflation systems sit outside our scope but compete for fleet maintenance spend. At AAPEX and SEMA in November 2025, Schrader (Sensata) showed new heavy-duty TPMS sensors and its AirCheck BLE retrofit kit, marking 40 years in TPMS. Fleets that adopt sensors catch pressure loss earlier, which reduces the perceived need for a nitrogen program in some depots.

Growth Drivers

Truck Fleet Tire Economics and Fuel Efficiency

Fleet operators are the strongest source of new installations. USTMA forecast US truck replacement shipments of 25.2 million units in 2025, up 7.9%, and light truck replacement of 37.8 million, up 2.9%, while passenger volumes were flat. Every point of pressure matters: fueleconomy.gov states that under-inflated tires lower gas mileage by 0.2% for every 1 psi drop across all four tires (fueleconomy.gov). NHTSA's DOT HS 811 681 study found 12.4% of model year 2004-2011 vehicles had at least one tire more than 25% under-inflated, a gap that fleet managers try to close with depot fill stations and scheduled checks. Fleets of 200 or more tractors can fill dozens of tires per shift, which is why automated multi-tire stations and PSA units with larger flow gain most. We estimate this driver adds about +1.4% to annual growth over 2025-2035, and it explains why Commercial Fleets grow at 6.90% and Heavy Trucks and Buses at 6.50%.

Aviation and Mining Specifications That Already Require Nitrogen

Some buyers do not need to be convinced. The FAA's AC 20-97B tells operators to inflate aircraft tires with dry nitrogen containing no more than 5% oxygen by volume (FAA AC 20-97B), so every airline line station, MRO hangar and ground support fleet needs a nitrogen source. Tronair and AERO Specialties supply nitrogen servicing carts and ground support equipment for this need. In mining, giant OTR tires carry large gas volumes and a fire or overheating risk, which is why Nitralife in South Africa supplies containerized nitrogen systems for tyres up to 63 inches and Atlas Copco markets nitrogen tyre inflation to mine sites. Replacement of aging cylinder-based carts with on-site generation is worth roughly 0.9 points of CAGR, and it holds Mining and Construction at 6.10% and Aviation MRO and Ground Support at 4.90%.

Larger Service Chains and Steady Vehicle Sales Widen the Install Base

Cox Automotive estimates US new-vehicle sales of about 16.3 million units in 2025, up 1.8% and the best result since 2019, with about 15.8 million forecast for 2026. ACEA reported EU new-car registrations up 1.8% in 2025, with battery-electric cars at a 17.4% share, or 1,880,370 units, a mix shift that keeps tire service visits regular. Dealership programs such as N2Plus Dealer package nitrogen fills into the new-car sale, while the Mavis and Pep Boys combination creates a buyer with more than 4,400 service centers that can standardize equipment in one tender. We think this channel effect contributes close to 0.7 percentage points of yearly expansion, mostly as replacement of older stationary units with automated fill stations.

Opportunities

Automated Fill Stations at Fleet Depots and High-Volume Bays

With Automatic Multi-Tire Fill Stations growing at 7.20%, suppliers that pair a generator with hands-free purge and fill cycles can sell on labor minutes saved, not on gas purity alone. Fleet depots and chain stores with standardized bays are the clearest targets, and connected stations that log fill pressure per vehicle create a service record fleets can audit.

Containerized Systems for APAC Mines and Airports

Asia Pacific (APAC) grows at 6.60% a year, the fastest of any region, and much of the new demand comes from mine sites and regional airports that lack reliable cylinder supply. Containerized PSA or membrane units, of the type Nitralife builds for 63-inch OTR tyres, travel well to remote sites and remove the logistics cost of trucking cylinders.

North America Leads Today, but Asia Pacific Adds Revenue Fastest Through 2035

Asia Pacific (APAC) Is the Fastest-Growing Region at 6.60%

Asia Pacific (APAC) accounts for 27.00% of 2025 revenue, or USD 131.27 Million. APAC revenue rises to USD 248.74 Million by 2035 at a 6.60% CAGR, the highest rate in our model. Demand in APAC comes from Australian and Indonesian mine sites running OTR fleets, growing airline ground support at new airports and expanding truck fleets in India and China. Local generator assemblers keep price points low, which helps first-time buyers in APAC tire shops adopt membrane units.

North America Holds the Largest Base at 36.00%

North America represents 36.00% of the 2025 total, worth USD 175.03 Million, and grows at 4.50% to USD 271.82 Million by 2035. The North American base reflects a long retail nitrogen tradition at tire dealers and car dealerships, a large aviation MRO sector and USTMA's forecast of 337.4 million total US tire shipments in 2025. North American growth now leans on truck fleets, where replacement shipments rose 7.9%, and on chain consolidation such as Mavis and Pep Boys.

Europe Grows 4.00% as Replacement Volumes Soften

Europe takes 24.00% of 2025 revenue, or USD 116.69 Million, reaching USD 172.73 Million by 2035 at 4.00% a year. European consumer replacement sales fell 2% to 224,133 thousand units in 2025, which restrains retail installs. European growth instead comes from bus and coach operators, aviation and a 17.4% battery-electric share of new EU cars that keeps pressure maintenance in focus.

Latin America Builds on Mining and Trucking at 5.25%

Latin America holds 6.00% of the 2025 market, valued at USD 29.17 Million, and grows at 5.25% to USD 48.66 Million in 2035. Chilean and Peruvian copper mines run large OTR tire fleets, and Brazilian road freight relies on heavy trucks, so Latin American buyers favor portable and containerized units over retail stations.

Middle East Expands at 5.55% on Aviation Hubs

The Middle East accounts for 4.50% of 2025 revenue, or USD 21.88 Million, and rises to USD 37.55 Million by 2035 at 5.55%. Large Middle East airline hubs need nitrogen servicing carts under procedures that follow the 5% oxygen limit, and high ambient temperatures make pressure stability a selling point for fleets in the Middle East.

Africa Starts Small but Grows 5.80%

Africa represents 2.50% of the 2025 total, worth USD 12.15 Million, and reaches USD 21.36 Million by 2035 at a 5.80% CAGR. South African mining drives most African demand, and Nitralife's containerized systems for tyres up to 63 inches show how African suppliers serve remote pits where cylinder delivery is costly.

Compressed-Air Groups and Nitrogen Specialists Split a Fragmented Field

No single supplier dominates the Nitrogen Tire Inflation Systems market. Diversified compressed-air and motion-control groups compete with specialists that focus on tire retail, aviation or mining, and buying criteria differ sharply by end user. We group the 14 companies we track into four clusters.

Diversified Groups Use Gas Generation Portfolios and Service Reach

Parker Hannifin sells TireSaver portable membrane nitrogen systems and, after closing the Filtration Group deal in August 2026, has a larger aftermarket channel for filter and service kits. Atlas Copco markets nitrogen tyre inflation for mining and added MSS Nitrogen's on-site gas generation capability in March 2025. Ingersoll Rand bought Advanced Gas Technologies in April 2025, giving it on-site generation to pair with its compressors. Pneumatech, a compressed-air treatment brand, offers nitrogen generators suited to tire inflation. These firms win when buyers want one vendor for compressor, dryer and generator.

Membrane and PSA Specialists Supply the Separation Core

Air Products makes PRISM membranes, which Branick Industries uses in its nitrogen tire inflation equipment for tire shops and fleets. Generon builds both membrane and PSA generators and serves industrial customers who need higher purity or flow. PCL Pneumatic Components Ltd offers the NEXUS N6 nitrogen generator with an integrated inflator, and in September 2026 marked 20 years of its AIRFORCE tyre inflator while releasing its 2026/27 catalogue, a sign of its established tire-shop channel.

Retail, Dealership and Motorsport Brands Sell the Service, Not Just the Box

NitroFill supplies nitrogen machines to tire retailers and motorsport teams. N2Plus Dealer runs dealership nitrogen programs that bundle equipment, marketing and fill tracking for new-car stores. Katool sells the KT-N80 nitrogen generator tire inflator to price-conscious shops. Competition here turns on fill speed, footprint and how easily staff can upsell the service.

Aviation and Mining Niches Reward Specification Know-How

Tronair builds aircraft nitrogen servicing carts and AERO Specialties supplies aviation ground support equipment, both selling to operators bound by purity limits such as AC 20-97B. Nitralife, based in South Africa, provides containerized nitrogen systems for OTR mining tyres up to 63 inches. Buyers in these niches pay for certification, durability and on-site support, which keeps margins higher than in tire retail.

Primary Interview Insights

Tire Dealers and Service Centers

Is nitrogen still a profitable add-on service?

Dealers told us attach rates fell once customers read independent test results, so most now bundle nitrogen with alignment or a free pressure-check program. They still value the generator, but justify it on bay throughput rather than per-tire fees.

Commercial Fleets

What makes a fleet buy a nitrogen system?

Fleet managers said casing life and fewer roadside calls matter more than fuel savings alone. Several told us they would only buy equipment that fills several tires at once and logs pressure per unit.

Aviation MRO and Ground Support

How do aviation buyers choose equipment?

Ground support managers told us purity certification and cart durability decide the purchase, because procedures already require nitrogen. Price is secondary to uptime on the ramp.

Mining and Construction

Why move from cylinders to on-site generation?

Mine maintenance leads said cylinder logistics to remote pits are costly and unreliable, so containerized generators pay back through avoided deliveries. They also cited safety on large OTR tires as a reason to keep nitrogen.

Equipment Suppliers

Where is supplier competition heading?

Suppliers told us compressor makers are bundling generators with their air systems, which squeezes standalone brands on price. Specialists expect to defend share through service kits, filter programs and niche certifications.
